Revolusi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, YPAN dan Kabupaten Banyuwangi Perkuat Lingkungan Berbahasa Inggris di Sekolah

Banyuwangi, 14 November 2024 – A successful collaboration between the Yayasan Pendidikan Adiluhung Nusantara (YPAN), the Banyuwangi Regency Government, and the Indonesian Regency Government Association (APKASI) has led to the implementation of the Mini English Camp titled “Ant System.” This initiative targeted five selected schools in Banyuwangi and took place over four days, from November 11 to November 14, 2024, at the Aston Banyuwangi Hotel & Conference Center. The primary goal of this event was to enhance teachers’ competencies in delivering English lessons and to foster a conducive English learning environment for students.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Suratno, S.Pd, M.M., the Head of the Banyuwangi Education Office, who emphasized that, “The introduction of the ‘Ant System’ method is expected to create a supportive ecosystem that continually motivates and encourages students to improve their English language skills in school.”

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Fais Bayu Wicaksono, the Chairman of YPAN Banyuwangi, underscored the significance of mastering the English language in today’s global landscape. “English is essential for seizing opportunities on an international scale. Therefore, through the ‘Ant System,’ we aim to provide a creative, innovative, and easily applicable approach to English language education in schools,” he stated.

Ant System: Cultivating Active English Language Use in Schools

The “Ant System” method is a distinctive approach to English language learning that emphasizes the practical and enjoyable use of English in real-life contexts. During the four-day event, participants engaged in various activities, including a Training of Trainers (TOT) session, where they learned to become English language trainers using the “Ant System” method, enabling them to train other teachers in their respective schools. This was followed by the introduction of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Ant System, providing participants with essential guidelines for implementing this method effectively. The program also included discussions on applying the “Ant System” in their schools and developing action plans.

By hosting the Mini English Camp “Ant System,” we aim to significantly enhance the quality of English language education in Banyuwangi. The trained teachers are expected to serve as role models, inspiring their colleagues to foster an English-speaking environment in schools.

YPAN remains committed to improving the quality and equity of education across Indonesia through specialized training programs. By collaborating with various stakeholders, including local governments, YPAN strives to create a conducive learning ecosystem throughout the country, with the hope of nurturing a golden generation of Indonesians prepared to tackle global challenges.
